What Home Kong means to Hong Kong Street Photographers - Pt. 1

In celebration of Hong Kong - the place we call HOME. Bamboo Scenes Gallery & lifestyle brand Home Kong joined forces to welcome March Arts Month to their city. On March 16th our photo exhibition: 'Made In Home Kong' by Bamboo Scenes photographers launched in style with a special Block Party visited by over 800 Home-Kongers. A Street Photography exhibition filled with personal stories & cultural histories - 100% Made in Home Kong (captured, printed & framed) to embrace real art coming from our city.

What does Home Kong mean to you?

We asked every photographer what Home Kong means to them accompanied with their chosen photo on exhibit. Here Part 1 of Made In Home Kong:

Last Of Its Kind (Hong Kong, 2017) | Elaine Li
" My Home Kong - it's the one place I feel at home"

Subtracting Fractions (Hong Kong, 2017) |  Michael Kistler
"Hong Kong is a movement, colour and light.
Hong Kong is a city of contradictions and chaos.
Hong Kong is a blur.
Hong Kong is yesterday.
Hong Kong is today."

Signs of an Era I (Hong Kong, 2018) | Jeremy Cheung
"Hong Kong is my HOME - it's all about the mixed emotions of living in such a tiny place - ever changing, ever transient, so much to grab for yet so much to fear about ... All I wish is to capture these 'fragments' of the city to authentically reflect  the way we live in the era of fluid identity".

The Games We Play (Hong Kong, 2018) | Tricia Darling
"A taxi sits alone, creeping forward further than it should. Its next move is unknown and we know nothing of the driver or passengers inside. To me, this is a perfectly still moment of mystery in the city we love, Home Kong"

Leap (Kwun Tong, 2017) | Timmy Lo
"Hong Kong is what I call home, a vibrant city that never sleeps"

The Soldier - Hungry Ghost Festival (Hong Kong, 2017) | Kasper Forest
"Here is my homeland where I was born. Here is my paradise that no longer exists.."

Density (Hong Kong, 2017) | José Macedo
"My Home Kong is a unique and beautiful combination between concrete and nature, with an infinite number of shapes and colours. The more I walk around, the more I am surprised by its visual patterns."

Paul S x MJ 1 (Hong Kong, 2018) | Paul S.
"Home Kong is the city of hustle and heart. Be kind, work hard and set your goals."

Eye Candy (Hong Kong, 2015) | Nukeproofsuit
"Home Kong to me is Encountering Architecture. Capturing its dense and disorienting character of this small yet ever-evolving metropolis."

Mass of Bodies (Mongkok, 2017) | Christopher Button
"Home Kong is colour. From the cool blues and greens of the neon signs at night to the pale shades of the streets in the daytime, this city provides me with a pallet like no other and I feel very grateful for that."

Fire Dragon (Hong Kong, 2017) | Carlos Sun
"Hong Kong is an amazing historical place with hidden stories everywhere. Times change and so do those stories leave us. I hope to keep them in my pictures and in my memories."

The Rain Flower #001 (Sheung Wan, 2015) | Frank Freeman
"Home Kong to me is like a treasure island, full of fascinating colours, interesting stories and beautiful encounters."
