Curator’s Choice: Larry Tang

Welcome to our ‘Curator’s Choice’ - a special series dedicated to help you navigate through our curated collection

Well-known for his ability to innovate creative art, F&B and nightlife concepts, Larry Tang wears many, many hats but each one is underpinned by a love of art. In Hong Kong, his organic farm-to-table restaurants led the Sustainable Lifestyle of Organic Wellness (SLOW) movement, while in Singapore, he was involved with major marketing and advertising campaigns. Today, he’s still one of Asia’s most sought-after branding and digital marketing consultants for the tech and startup community.

Larry is also the co-founder of Living Canvas, which brings all of his experience and passions together under one platform. The brand offers a multifunctional social destination for people who have an appreciation for immersive art and interactive technology. Thoroughly flexible, the space can be an art gallery, immersive dining room, mini museum, and even a kids’ playroom.

For Larry, the focus on local artists and bringing their stories to wider audiences was what drew him to Bamboo Scenes. “I think it’s very important to support local artists in the field, especially those who might have been overlooked in the past,” says Larry. “Artists don’t launch themselves - they need curators who believe in their work and work tirelessly to promote them, especially at the early stage of their careers. I believe Bamboo Scenes’ focus on offsetting disparities for exhibiting local and international artists in Hong Kong is in line with this. Since the brand’s launch, thanks to their sharp eye for spotting emerging talents and their passion for celebrating the works of under-the-radar artists, I have discovered and learnt about so many promising names waiting to make their mark on the art world.”
