Born and raised in Hong Kong, Celine Jill has been keen on photography since her childhood. Although she began her career as a creative copywriter in advertising, she decided to follow her dreams into the worlds of photography and art. After pursuing further studies in photography at London’s prestigious Central Saint Martins, Celine began working as a London-based photographer and learned to repair vintage cameras at a camera shop on Little Russell Street.
Celine has a deep passion for street photography and blends the vision, culture, and knowledge of her two homes—Hong Kong and the UK—in her work.
Eventually, Celine founded Little Russell Street Studio, a creative solutions hub that offers a range of services including photography, video production, and vintage camera repair and servicing. The studio does a lot of portrait work for celebrities, actors, and singers, and is the still photographer for ViuTV’s “in Geek we Trust” TV series.
Celine has a deep passion for street photography and blends the vision, culture, and knowledge of her two homes—Hong Kong and the UK—in her work. Her favorite street photographer is Martin Parr; she’s drawn to Parr’s unique colors and styles and unexpected encounters. During the pandemic, Celine began a film street photography project called “Empty London” and a side project called “The Shopping Arcade Odyssey”.

For Celine, Bamboo Scenes is a strong platform for local artists. “I love the diversity of the photographs from up and coming local artists and how we get to see Hong Kong through their lenses”.

"06 / Sheung Wan, Dina" (2016) by May N Kasahara - Sheung Wan, Hong Kong
“This black and white photo, without the face, creates space for the imagination. The composition frees the body in a packed residential district and resonates well with the viewer. If I could only pick one photo from the Bamboo Scenes collection to be placed in my studio, it would be this.”
Light of Mercy - Kevin Mak
"Light of Mercy" (2018) by Kevin Mak - North Point, Hong Kong
“I’m drawn to the cool color tone and balanced composition of this image. I also think these buildings may be gone in a decade, so this image really captures the present for the future”.
