This interview is part of the Bamboo Scenes “Around the World” series. Each month, we’ll be introducing our readers to one of our happy clients to talk about their experience with Bamboo Scenes and memories of Hong Kong.
Who are you?
My name is Maria Estrada. I’m from Mexico City but I’ve been living in San Francisco, California, for the last two years.
What's your connection to Hong Kong?
I lived there for 10 years before moving to San Francisco! I completely fell in love with the city and its people. It was such an incredible experience that left me with memories and friends that I will treasure forever. Hong Kong will always have a special place in my heart.

How did you come across Bamboo Scenes?
Through their incredibly talented founder, Madelon. We collaborated on a few work projects before she founded Bamboo Scenes. She has such an incredible eye for photography and through Bamboo Scenes, she’s managed to curate a truly unique art collection that portrays Hong Kong through the different lenses of very talented and distinct local artists.
What do you like about Bamboo Scenes?
The photography art prints of course. They’re all amazing! But the experience of choosing your art prints with Bamboo Scenes is nothing short of exceptional. They really go the extra mile to accommodate all your needs, from the delivery service to promptly answering all your questions, and adding special handwritten notes, the whole process is truly enjoyable.

I also love that, depending on your needs, you can choose to buy the art print on its own or in a custom frame. They make it so easy for you! The value that you get as a customer is remarkable. In my experience, Bamboo Scenes really stands out from other art curators and galleries, in both their art offering and the quality of their service.

What have you bought from Bamboo Scenes?
I recently purchased an Art Gift Certificate for my friend’s birthday. He lives in Hong Kong at the moment but will soon be moving to a different country, so I thought this would be a perfect Hong Kong souvenir to take with him on his new journey. He loves photography and Hong Kong, so I’m sure it will be a gift that he will always treasure.

Art is very personal, so I wanted him to choose a photography art print that really speaks to him. So the option to buy the gift certificate was really useful. Also, as I mentioned above, I’m not based in Hong Kong anymore so Bamboo Scenes helped me include a personal note and deliver the certificate on his birthday. They made it so easy and effortless that I already have an eye on a few art prints for myself!
