Exhibition On: Hong Kong Perspectives | 視角香港

Frank Freeman

Born and raised in Hong Kong, here is where Frank’s heart lies. Graduating from the School of Creative Media, City University of Hong Kong and obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in Photography, Frank always knew he was born with a creative sense.

Frank’s photography philosophy is to ‘take human beings at the essential’ while valuing the established relationship emerging from the photographic process. This gives Frank the opportunity to understand the history and stories of the people in front of his camera, and provides him a door to their lives.

When studying Experimental Arts in Photography for six months in Beijing, Frank got inspired by the perspective of his fellow local students to think that every visual artist should have their own color language. This idea drove him to develop his long-term photography project ‘The Evening Blue’ that has been exhibited at Espuma Gallery, HK.

In 2015 Frank released the inspiring project ‘The Purest People’, capturing the bright personalities of 23 kids and young adults diagnosed with Down’s Syndrome. This roving exhibition at Hong Kong Cultural Centre, Wan Chai C.C Wu Building, and Taikoo Place captured the attention of CNN, RTHK, NOW TV, Time Out HongKong, HKEJ, Hong Kong Economics, Apple News, Oriental Press and China Daily, and is one of Frank’s most renowned projects to date.

At the moment, Frank is the Visual Director of Zen Plus Studio based in Hong Kong.
