Finding the right shooting conditions for landscape photography can be tricky. In ‘Hope,’ Kelvin Yuen caught an ethereal sunrise from Tai Mo Shan, which at 957 meters, is Hong Kong’s tallest mountain.
Kelvin Yuen developed his own artistic style of landscape photography that has won him worldwide acclaim. In Hong Kong, his focus is on capturing the city’s rugged wilderness. He won his first award, in the Young Division of the 2015 National Geographic Photo Contest, at just 19 with a captivating nightscape shot from Kowloon Peak. It was while on one of these trips that he captured “Magical Night,” the stunning nightscape image that won him the 2020 International Landscape Photographer of the Year award.
